Happy weekend readers and for those celebrating, Happy Valentine to you! and Happy Lunar New Year to all readers celebrating the upcoming Year of the Ox.
What’s cool about this newsletter is its odd timing (it’s Valentine plus we made a video about it, so we had to show that to you) and something we have never done before - headlined it with two emojis in the subject line! Boom! All right, we have so many things to talk about in this issue.
Let’s get right in - Clubhouse invite giveaway!
Unless you are living a rock, sorry Patrick!, you must have heard of this app called Clubhouse. The clubhouse is a new type of social network based on voice—where people around the world come together to talk, listen, and learn from each other in real-time. It’s invite-only, for iOS users. Quite exclusive! We’ve managed to get on to the platform and we are ready to give away invites for any of you who attend the talk happening today! Just register, drop by and we will randomly give away at least 3 invites for those who attend!
P.S. Apparently these invites are selling for more than $100 on eBay! Register and grab ‘em while you can!
While we are on the subject of Clubhouse, we should talk about how cool it is! We already see many folks capitalizing on this as an opportunity! Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Mr. Beast, Steve Ballmer just to name a few are all here and there is a talk about getting Kanye and Musk together. Remember that weird-looking pic they tweeted posing awkwardly when Kanye was running for president? Imagine these guys talking! Should be cool!
On the other hand, we have Big Tech (Facebook and Twitter mostly) moving in to create competitive versions of Clubhouse. Let’s see how soon we have drop-in audio versions of these on our fav social channels. We already see Twitter testing it in beta!
I wonder what someone like Spotify would do which many have not spoken about - with access to 3 million artists and creators and been in the audio biz for nearly 14 years. Is clubhouse even a competition to them? Or is it competition for podcasts in general?
The other point which many are talking about is inclusivity - By making it audio-only, invite-only, iOS only Clubhouse is leaving out a majority of users. It’s a new app on a crazy hype and a part of the reason for the hype could also be how limited access to it is! Also, Clubhouse officially says they will be open to all soon! It’s so new that the app went down multiple times when Elon was on it. It should be interesting to see how they tackle audio only for the hearing impaired.
A lot more has happened in the Clubhouse scene and a lot cooler stuff is about to go down! If you don’t have an invite - register for the talk and stand a chance to get a free invite!

Currently reading Creativity, Inc. by Ed Catmull (with Amy Wallace)
What a book! Utterly amazes me! It starts off with Ed, the author explaining Pixar Studio, how it was designed, how people understood it and so much more about the studio that I want to visit it or even work there.
The author also talks a lot about Steve Jobs and how he was involved in creating the space. In fact, I did some research and found that the same principles were applied in creating the spaceship style Apple HQ in Cupertino. The underlying principle of the space design was to encourage collaboration, creativity and self-expression!
Ed also talks about technical wizardry and how they went on a crazy hard path of 5 years through financial strain to create Toy Story. They figured if they created a movie they wanted to see, other people would want to see it too and what a hit Toy Story went on to become, a successful franchise even! Ed also fondly mentions the critic reviews of the film the day it was out. What a feeling it must have been!
